COUPLES COunseling
Improved understanding and communication, deeper friendships, and greater intimacy are common goals for couples therapy. I’m passionate about supporting couples to nourish and maintain meaningful, satisfying, and long-lasting relationships and work diligently to share thoughtful, practical, and evidence-based strategies for getting there. In therapy we can identify and reduce patterns of disconnection and restore (or build upon existing) patterns of connection.
Couples therapy may help couples:
• Close the gap when partners have grown emotionally distant
• Navigate conflict more productively
• Turn gridlocked communication into dialogue
• Support healing and connection when PTSD and trauma are present
• Recover, repair, and rebuild after an affair
• Talk about sex and learn to create the conditions for each partner to experience pleasure
When working with couples I closely follow the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy. This method is grounded in over 50-years of research and is designed to teach specific tools to improve the quality of your relationship.
